New Kids On The Block keep their man band reunion firing with new single One More Night
LIGHTNING rarely strikes twice when the megastar boy band of yesteryear reunites to be the nostalgia-fuelled man band of now.
But New Kids On The Block appear to be on a roll with a surprise new single wowing fans and critics.
Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre, Danny Wood and Jordan and Jonathan Knight received a rapturous welcome when they premiered One More Night on the James Corden show this week.
The screams which greeted their catwalk choreography and smouldering blue steels matched the hysteria which soundtracked every move in their early 1990s heyday.
They weren’t quite One Direction loud but they were enthusiastic shrieks.

And quite rightly so. The five men look good and sound good, with the song getting the thumbs up from Rolling Stone who described the disco-tinged pop track as “alluring”.
The Step By Step quintet dropped the track to introduce a new EP called Thankful which will be released on May 12 ahead of The Total package tour of North America with Paula Abdul and Boyz II Men.
After splitting in 1995, they reunited in 2008 and released a new record The Block which debuted at No. 2 on the American charts and have toured regularly since then, playing Australian arenas in 2012.
They thrilled their diehard fans when younger Wahlberg brother Mark joined the band onstage during a concert in New York in 2015. Donnie’s younger bro quit the boy band before they released their debut album and was replaced by McIntyre.
Along with Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Boyz II Men, Westlife and Take That, NKOTB were one of the biggest pop acts of the late 1980s and 1990s boy band era.
Wahlberg has enjoyed the highest profile since their split, starring in Blue Bloods and the Wahlburgers reality show about their chain of burger joints owned by brothers Donnie, Mark and Paul.
While their fans may be two decades older, they remain fiercely loyal to their Hangin’ Tough pop heroes, with the single quickly making its way up the iTunes pop charts after the performance on Corden’s tastemaking late night show.
No word on a possible return to Australia with the Total Package tour.
